Infants’ Play Equipment Installed

The first stage of the play area on Tunstead’s playing field has been completed, with the installation of 4 sturdy and attractive pieces of apparatus: a 6-piece trim trail, 2 cradle swings, a climbing tower and a role-play engine with carriage. Safety matting has been laid around the swings and tower.

The equipment was purchased from and installed by Norfolk Games & Frames, a locally based company (Gressenhall), and was funded by Veolia Environmental Trust, Awards for All and Tunstead Parish Council.
Funding has already started for the second stage, which will be aimed more at Juniors, with a £10,000 grant having been awarded from the Big Society Fund, which is part of the Norfolk Community Foundation. A triple tower and roundabout are included in the Juniors’ plans. The initial design included a cycle and skate track, since there is nowhere safe for young children to learn to ride or skate, but this has had to be withdrawn due to safety concerns. It is hoped to include a track in the 3rd stage of development, siting it further away from the main play area.
