Being an effective councillor requires both commitment and hard work. But it can be very rewarding, knowing that you help set the vision and direction of the local community. Councils are led by democratically elected councillors.

The local government elections will be held on Thursday 2nd May.
The closing date for nominations is 4:00pm Wednesday 3rd April.

The Electoral Commission publish a set of guidelines to help people know if they qualify, and how to go about becoming a parish councillor.
