There is a whole raft of schemes promoted by the Highways department of NCC.

The Tunstead Fête and Dog Show went off successfully in bright and breezy conditions.
Events kicked off at 11:00am, after the two dozen volunteers had completed the setting up, which started the previous afternoon, and restarted at 8:30am this morning.

There were vintage tractors from two local clubs, and a couple of military vehicles. There would have been more military vehicles, but our fête coincided with the commemorations of the Normandy (D-Day) landings that took place during World War II.
After all that, refreshments were definitely needed. So burgers, ice creams, teas and coffees were available, as well as strawberries (donated by Place UK) and cream, followed by cake, if you had room.
The dog show started right on time at 1:15pm, with Margaret doing the judging. Sarah made the rosettes.
Graham Bailey was compere for the event, and despite, as he admitted, barely knowing anything about dogs except they had a tail at one end and a nose at the other, did a great job keeping the 180 on-lookers informed, with a little help from Vicky, assistant to the judge.
There were 12 fun classes, and dogs could enter as many classes for which they qualified.
Everything wrapped up a little after 3:00pm. The dogs were well behaved, and credit must go to the owners who kept their animals under close control. Also everyone contributed by keeping the rec litter free. This enabled the volunteers to clear everything away by 4:30pm.
Thanks to everyone who turned up; with or without dogs or children. Your contributions will go towards the Tunstead Village Hall and Recreation Ground Fund. A wholehearted thanks to the many volunteers who turned up to erect the gazebos and stalls, supervise the activities, or provide the refreshments, which everyone enjoyed.
The organisers felt that the dog show went so well, that they may focus on that part of the event next year.

The 200 club is a monthly draw. The surplus funds go towards the Village Hall Fund. Each subscriber owns a numbered ticket at £1 per month or £12 a year. The draw takes place during the bingo evenings using the bingo barrel. Derek kindly demonstrated the process to me the other evening. Half the subscription money is given as prizes, the remainder going to the Village Hall and Recreation Ground funds.
If you have not joined don’t wait for Derek to walk up to your door, though he will do that, just contact him and ask to join.
The Ashmanhaugh Light Railway is a 7¼ inch gauge railway, set in the beautiful North Norfolk countryside. It is open to members of the public on specific days between 2 and 5 pm (weather permitting) . See below for 2015 dates
As well as offering the opportunity to ride on the trains, The Ashmanhaugh Light Railway provides ‘Footplate & Driver Experience’ courses for those people who would like to have a go at driving one or more of the locos under close supervision
