• Coronavirus – Tunstead in Action!

A parish council response has been formulated, in conjunction with the Horse & Groom, so that we may provide social care, support and assistance to those who are vulnerable, social-distancing or self-isolating within Tunstead and Sco-Ruston.

If you would like to get involved in our response efforts, please head to the Horse & Groom on Thursday, 19th March, at 7.30pm.

Our initial thoughts are to divide the village and allocate a volunteer per road/area.  We will then hand out information, our contact numbers and posters to alert callers that you are self-isolating, along with practical information on the help the Horse & Groom are offering, such as their extended take-away menus.   We hope to have enough volunteers that your ‘area’ is small enough that it won’t be too much for you to help out.

If nothing else, we can raise the community spirit!  Hopefully, you won’t need our assistance, but if you should you need anything from groceries, meals, medications, or just a chat if you are feeling isolated and alone, help will be on hand in Tunstead.

If you feel that going to the pub on Thursday is unwise, but you would still like to help or know what’s going on, please contact Gilly at the Horse & Groom on 07730 494338 and she can advise you on the plans.

If you are unsure of your symptoms or need advice around Coronavirus please ring NHS Direct on 111 or visit www.gov.uk.  If you need any further information about Tunstead’s offer of help, you can contact Council Chairman, Chris Oakes, on 07909 835514 or your parish Clerk on 01692 536056.

  • Police & Crime Commissioner Q&A

The Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) Lorne Green is hosting a special Q&A session in Fakenham on Monday 22nd July at the Fakenham Community Centre, Oak Street, NR21 9SR. The event starts at 5:30pm.

The PCC will be joined by senior members of the County’s Fire and Rescue Service and the Chief Constable in facing public questions.

This event is thought to be the first of its kind in the country.

The PCC is inviting members representing the North Norfolk area to participate in the question and answer session. This is a great opportunity for councillors to ask questions and receive information directly from both services.

  • Tunstead Village Hall AGM – 2019

It is currently a very exciting and busy time for the village hall committee. We are having plans drawn up for the new village hall.

We have sent out a questionnaire to everyone in the village asking for opinions on what people want from the hall when it is built.

We have had a representative from the Football Association (FA) take a look around the recreation ground in order to assess our position for obtaining grants from the FA.  We are also running our regular events; the Yard Sale is coming up on the 12th May, and the Village Fete on the 9th June.

    The Annual General Meeting,
which had to be postponed in April, will now take place on Tuesday 14th May at 7:30pm. We have just one vacancy for a Trustee. If you would like to join the committee please come along to the meeting in the modular building.

It is not necessary to be on the committee to volunteer to help run the village hall and recreation ground charity. We are looking for people with particular skills to join the body of 50 volunteers that help us already. We are currently looking for volunteers with professional and technical skills in:

    • Legal Matters – to help establish the legal basis for the Charity and its new hall.
    • Bid Writer – someone to help with making applications to grant providers to fund the building of the hall.
    • Building Project Manager – someone with established skills to ensure the construction of the village hall will be a success.
    • Grounds-Keeping – a person who will be able to prepare the recreation ground for football matches and other events. Also, to ensure that the play area is safe for the children to use.
    • Questionnaire Reviewer – a person with skills in assessing responses to the questionnaire sent out recently.

If you have any of the above skills or other technical skills, especially when the construction of the village hall is under-way next year, please come along and have a chat.
The plans for the village hall will also be on display at the AGM.

The article and images can be seen in the village modular building. These were posted after the public presentation that was given to the Village Hall Committee and then later to the Parish Council.

Firstly, in this blog is a reproduction of the Smalltalk article. This is followed by a link to the full narrative on the village hall project.
